Saudi Cabinet Tackles Real Estate Reform, Energy Discoveries, and Global Diplomacy

JEDDAH: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman chaired the weekly Saudi Cabinet meeting on Tuesday in Jeddah, where a series of critical national and international issues were addressed according to the report.

At the forefront of the discussions were recent measures introduced to stabilize Riyadh’s real estate sector. 

The Cabinet emphasized the importance of curbing rising land prices and rents to ensure balanced urban growth.

The Cabinet also celebrated recent discoveries of oil and natural gas in the Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter, calling them a “qualitative addition” to Saudi Arabia’s energy sector. 

These finds are expected to reinforce the Kingdom’s economic position and support its capacity to meet both domestic and global energy needs.

On the diplomatic front, the Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom’s communications with other nations and reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing global partnerships and promoting international peace and stability. 

It welcomed growing global support for the upcoming Saudi-French co-chaired conference on the Palestinian issue and reiterated calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and swift delivery of humanitarian aid.

The Cabinet approved several bilateral agreements, including: Legal cooperation with Morocco (extradition, criminal matters, convict transfers), Visa exemptions for diplomatic and official passport holders with Malaysia, Environmental cooperation with Jordan, Health collaboration with Iran.

Also, approved Education partnership with South Korea, Double taxation avoidance with Bahrain, Kuwait, and Croatia, A technology MoU with Greece and Saudi Arabia's accession to the Tampere Convention on emergency telecommunications.

Additional MoUs included disability care with Djibouti Trade cooperation with China, Counter-terrorism efforts with Kenya and News exchange with Algeria

The Cabinet praised the success of the Human Capabilities Initiative Conference in Riyadh, which resulted in over 100 agreements and initiatives aligned with Vision 2030.

Key administrative decisions included: Restructuring the Insurance Disputes Committee in Jeddah, Establishing a dedicated operations room for financial fraud reports and Approving final accounts for the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.

Promotions at the 14th rank were confirmed, including: Abdullah bin Saad Al-Ghamdi at the Ministry of Energy and Ghallab bin Ghaleb Abu Khashim as deputy emir of Al-Baha Region,

The Cabinet also reviewed annual reports from several agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Diriyah Gate Development Authority, Royal Commission for AlUla, Saudi Red Sea Authority, and the Social Development Bank.
